From Hanover, Jamaica to Denver

Veteran & woman owned and operated. We started in Colorado Springs with the simple idea of bringing the best from us to you. From our founder who is from Hanover, Jamaica to our front-line workers, we put lots of love and careful thought into all we do. We make our food from scratch fresh daily.

Grilling Jerk Island is a family affair: a mother-daughter team carrying a legacy that started back in 2003, when Tammy and Randall Whyte opened the Island Grille in Colorado Springs. After years at their Jamaican Grille on 8th Avenue, Royalty Braziel brought the family recipes back to life in Denver. Many of the dishes come straight from her father’s kitchen in Hanover, Jamaica, including the Rasta Pasta, made from her great-grandmother’s treasured, scratch-made sauce. “We’re not new to this,” Royalty likes to say. Step inside and you’ll find reggae on the speakers, a mural by local artist Grace Noel, and jerk chicken always grilled outside, the real deal, Rasta style.
